Changing your major
Q: How do I change my major within the College of Engineering and Applied Science?
A: In order to change your major, you must sign a Change of Major form, available in most departmental offices. You will then need to have this form signed by the old major department and the new major department. If you are changing your major from Open Option to another major, you will need to have Sherry Snyder (Open Option advisor) sign the form as the 'old' major.
Q: I am currently an Arts and Sciences major and I am interested in changing majors to Chemical and Biological Engineering. What do I need to do?
A: Because the academic standards may be different in different colleges of the university, you must apply to the new college through an Intrauniversity Transfer (IUT). More information can be found here and here. Deadlines for submitting an IUT are April 1st for the summer terms or Fall semester, August 1st for students enrolled in summer term applying for Fall semester, or November 1st for students enrolled in Fall semester applying for Spring semester. It is also important to note that rules of the College of Engineering require that the last 45 credit hours used to fulfill degree requirements must be taken as a regular degree student in the College of Engineering on the Boulder campus. Please see the following information sheet for further information:
