Q: Does Independent Study from another engineering department count as technical elective credit?
A: Yes, Independent Study from another engineering department will count as a technical elective.
Q: Do science laboratory courses count as technical elective credit?
A: Yes, any science laboratory course counts as a technical elective.
Q: I did not take Intro to ChemE (CHEN 1300). Is this a required course?
A: No, this is not a required course. However, if you do not take Intro to ChemE then you will have to pick up 1 additional technical elective credit to fulfill graduation requirements.
Q: I feel that some of the courses I have taken should count as technical electives, yet they are not listed on the technical electives list above. What can I do?
A: If you feel that a course you have taken should fulfill technical elective content, you are welcome to file a petition with Dr. Janet Degrazia. She will review your request and the course may or may not count as a technical elective.
Q: Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering (CVEN3414) for the environmental option curriculum is listed as a course that I need to take in the spring of my sophomore year. However, it is only offered now in the fall.
A: You should take Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering (CVEN3414) in the fall of your junior year and instead take an environmental engineering elective during the spring of your sophomore year.
Q: Does PHYS3070 (same as ENVS3070) count as an environmental tech elective?
A: No, this class does not fulfill the requirements for a technical elective in the environmental engineering option.
Q: Does CHEM 1131 count as a technical elective?
A: If you took CHEM 1131 before 2007 then it will count as a technical elective. Otherwise, it will not count as a technical elective.
Q: I entered college in the fall of 2004, do I need to take 12 credit hours of technical electives or 15 credit hours of technical electives? The graduation checklist effective for students entering in the fall of 2004 only requires 12 credit hours of technical electives. Q: My graduation checklist shows that CHEN 4580 is required to graduate. What happened to this class and do I need to take it? It does not seem to be offered anymore.
A: If you did not take Numerical Methods (CHEN 4580) then you do have to take 15 credit hours of technical electives (or 16 if you did not take Intro to ChemE). Back in 2004 Numerical Methods was required, but is no longer offered.
A: Numerical Methods (CHEN 4580) is no longer offered and is not required. However, you will need to replace these 3 lost credits of technical electives with 3 more technical elective credits. Note that if you did not take Intro to ChemE then you will have to take an additional 1 technical elective credit.
